in the continuing saga of me spending a copious amount of free time building a soul / teen pop / doo wop / r&b jukebox for myself in spotify, i have discovered the best song of all time — a precursor to “man down” and “paper planes,” and a refreshing antidote to the frightening number of “he hit me and it felt like a kiss” songs that permeate the collections I’ve been combing through. amazers!
Also, happy father’s day! This is my dad! He looks very cool/hip, am I right? Isn’t there a meme about this? But I can’t quite bring myself to submit this photo to that blog, because I just think my dad is so much cooler than all those other guys.
You know how you have a dog when you’re a kid and then when you hear other people talk about the dogs they had when they were kids you’re internally all like “pshaw, your dog had nothing on my awesome dog!” That’s how I feel about my dad (and our dog, for the record).
1972 World Series Game 7 scorecard (Reds v Athletics) by my uncle, who was ten years old at the time. He used an Astros regular season program for the scorecard, just scratching out the Padres/Astros and writing in the details. It’s a little messy, but so beautiful!
…via the reliably awesome Justin Cox, who said “I am in love with this photo” — & I share his feelings! Also sharing in his upset that A League of Their Own is no longer streaming on netflix. I had it stashed in my queue for a night when it would be needed.
[noted in the comments, but to make it official: this was snagged from the entertaining uniwatch flickr page]
things like this make me really glad i exchange so many emails with my parents

Here’s another one of my dad’s awesome pictures from the Cards/’Stros game at the dome in 1980 (first one I blogged about here). Everyone’s favorite announcer back when he was likable. In the rainbow guts!

"aren’t we a a pretty couple?"
I collect abandoned photos that strike me as either particularly happy or particularly sad. This one is obviously the former.
Does anyone want to spot me $825, so I can buy this insanely beautiful flapper dress and wear it to every special occasion for the rest of my life? THX IN ADVANCE.
I want to start a girl group.
