Summer Anne’s Best 125 Songs Of The 2000s: #20

“All The Single Ladies” by Beyonce

Read the introduction for details on my criteria.

And if you’re reading me in tumblr’s dashboard, be sure to visit the blog directly for video.

If you liked it than you shoulda put a ring on it.
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it.

The lines above come out of my mouth several times a month and I think that they probably will for the rest of my life. Sometimes, when conversations with my girlfriends about one boy or another come to a point where no progress is being made with talking, I suggest that we all just listen to this song together, soak it in, and move on with our lives. And we do. And it makes us feel better. Because, really, if they liked it than they shoulda put a ring on it. For that reason, and because I can’t hear it without shaking my booty — literally, every single time, and because Beyonce is a goddess who I aspire to be more like every day, and because of the sweet, bittersweet bridge that’s like it’s own 15 second ballad in the middle of the song — for all of those reasons,  it kicks off the top 20.
