New Years Eve
I want to live transparently, with my heart in my hands. I want to spend time making things and reducing the number of things I take for granted. I want a beautiful home. I had a dream last night about walls covered in beautiful art by all of us, and I want to make that come true. I want to be healthy and wake up early.
I would say this to those people who would not vote for Jeff Bagwell because...

I spent this evening with my ladyfriends contemplating how much loyalty matters to me; how it’s this thing I hold in illogically high regard as though it was charity or genius or anything else actually valuable instead of something that might very well be just as destructive as it is precious, in the big big picture. But it matters so much to me among those I hold dear simply because my moral...

let me kiss you like a boy does
Here is the tracklist, in youtube video form, for an awesome girls from the nineties mix I made today for artistic reasons. Enjoy the heart tugging nostalgia, perfect hooks, unabashed sincerity, and fuzzy familiarity.
P.S. Though it’s been awhile, I am still sincerely confident that nineties girl music is the best make out music of all time — no contest, conversation over, it wins...

1000!

My first letter to the editor ever.+1 for the comment on this post.

Movie theater time travel! →
I gave my dear friend Cole these photos from the 1930s and he turned around and blogged about them as lovingly as I could have hoped.
Being a good receiver of presents has to be on my top five best qualities in a person who wants a part of my heart.

wish list
I’ve been using Amazon’s “universal wishlist” feature to exorcise my capitalist demons since I have zero dollars to spend on myself now or, let’s face it, probably ever. This way, when I’m feeling particularly poor and sorry for myself (blah blah blah first world problems, I know) I can “shop” for the “future” where I will be an...

summer anne's top ten albums of 2010.
1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
If I collected everything I’ve written and said about Kanye West over the last few months, I’d probably have enough material for a book. It’s obvious to anyone who has been paying attention that this was going to be my number one choice: I’m more excited about this album than I have been about any music in years....

10.0
Here are the albums I’d give a 10.0 (“perfect”) to which have been released since Pitchfork’s inception (1995). Pitchfork’s original rating in brackets.

Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy [10.0]
Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill [8.0]
The Shins’ Oh Inverted World [8.0]
